Chaia
We spent the month of February (plus those annoying overdue days in March) in Richmond awaiting baby’s arrival and have just finished packing our things back out to the island. It’s good to be home!

On Friday, March 6, 2009 (03-06-09 incidentally – what a fantastic birthdate!) we welcomed Chaia Lael (kai – ah lay – ell) into our Coullsmith clan. We chose Chaia, Hebrew for ‘life’, because she was such an active baby throughout the pregnancy. We wanted a lively name. Lael is also Hebrew and means ‘belongs to God’.

Labour, for those of you who are interested in that kind of thing, was fast. First contraction felt around 5:30am, regular contractions by 6:30am, at the hospital by 7:40am and baby out at 8:06am. Phew! 7lbs2oz, 52cm long and perfect!

Charis struggled for a few days with the thought of sharing her parents and having a sister, but she’s doing better every day. She really likes Chaia and keeps trying to feed her and rock her and bring her toys.

Becoming a family of four is a big deal! We've been pretty exhausted, but having family around and good friends bringing us dinners and gifts has been a wonderful support.

March 2009.
